A YOUNG man is in a serious condition after being stabbed in Cork.
he man, who is understood to be in his late 20s, suffered stab injuries during an incident in Bandon in west Cork early this morning.
Gardaí and paramedics raced to the scene when the alarm was raced by shocked neighbours who discovered the man lying in a pool of blood at a bus stop by Glasslynn Road at 7.45am.
The injured man received emergency treatment at the scene before being rushed to Cork University Hospital (CUH).
He is understood to be in a serious condition and is scheduled to undergo emergency surgery.
The young man is reported to have suffered multiple stab and slash wounds to his torso.
Bandon gardaí arrested a man in the area near the scene a short time later.
The man was in his 40s.
He was taken to Bandon Garda Station where he is detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
The man can be detained for up to 24 hours.
Gardaí have commenced door-to-door inquiries in the area to determine if there were any witnesses to the incident and the precise
circumstances in which the man sustained the stab injuries.
