Visible thongs are edging their way back into mainstream fashion

Rubberised crocs have made a comeback this Summer and they are a divisive trend to say the least! The fact that it’s the more Shrek-toned variations that have soared in popularity is down to influencers and users on social media sharing platforms like TikTok and Instagram boosting and resurging trends from the 2000’s.

The issue I have with crocs, (besides the unquestionable polka dot tan lines) has to be the clunkiness. They don’t frame the feet well and can look disproportionate depending on your shoe size. However, I have been taken aback at how some people on social media can legitimately make most things look cool.

Styled with a white halter neck, hair scooped in a claw clip and light wash denim Bermuda shorts going to the beach – they don’t look half bad. Maybe the homage to Blue Crush could work and they should be exiled bar wearing to the sea side?

The neon shades are eyecatching to some and an eye sore to others! Personal taste and vision for styling is a huge factor when aiming to rock rubberised clogs.

However, If you do like these ones you can shop them online in green, yellow and violet online here from DV8 Fashions.

Meanwhile speaking of trending revivals, visible thongs are edging their way back in to the mainstream via adventurous celebs and popular online retailers.

Gillian Anderson had an iconic thong moment when she wore this daring dress to the Vanity Fair Oscars after-party in 2001. In true Millennium era fashion, the X Files actress wore black rimmed rose tinted oval glasses, minimal make up, a mini boxy print tote bag and a semi-transparent dress and thong layered combo that wagged a lot of tongues on the red carpet!

Hailey Bieber emulated the basis element of this iconic look in a bubblegum pink number at the MET gala in 2019. The 22 year-old former ballet dancer looked positively fabulous in a high necked, long sleeved and floor length pink gown by Alexander Wang. The retro approach to hair and make up undisputedly elevated the glam look as well as the higher t-bar embellished thong placement. However, for us mere mortals this risqué style is more trashy than triumphant in the style stakes.
