Presenter Marty Morrissey has revealed that he’s “genuinely the best of friends” with Bloom co-host Aine Lawlor.
Marty and Aine have been working together on Bloom and the Ploughing Championships for the last couple of years.
The 60-year-old RTE broadcaster is set to return to our TVs next week hosting one of the biggest Dublin summer festivals.
Speaking fondly about his co-host, he added: “I’m actually really grateful that RTE put us together- we’re now genuinely the best of friends outside of work and I love working with her.”
He told TV now: “This is one of the highlights of the year for me to work on Bloom and to work with Aine Lawlor- you put the two together and you’ve got a really lovely programme that I’m very proud to be part of.”
Marty said he was looking forward to broadcasting across two nights for the first time ever- twice on Thursday night and once again on Friday.
While describing himself as an “outdoors person” he admitted that he wasn’t very good at gardening.
He said: “Aine’s the expert who has the green-fingered touch. I’m still learning and I’m still very much a student.”
Marty has got his plate full as he’ll be working on the All- Ireland Championships after Bloom ends but he said he enjoys the variety.
He said: “It’s full-on now for the summer- I’m on TV and radio, so there’s great variation and it’s nice to be part of the GAA team doing the championship.”
