Hundreds of bored north Dublin children woke up to the heartbreaking news this morning that their local pitch had been torn up by teen vandals yesterday.

Scramblers, quad bikes and motorbikes are understood to have ripped up the hallowed ground at Rivermount Boys Football Club on Monday evening.

One of the volunteer workers at the club discovered the mess on the wet green grass with weather conditions making it easier for the vandals to tear apart the turf with their vehicles.

The club announced the shocking news on their social media page which has been blasted by locals in the area.
