It’s a girl for Fair City actor George McMahon as he welcomed his first child with gorgeous girlfriend Rachel Smyth.
The RTE star said that they got a surprise when the little girl arrived in the early hours of Friday morning in Dublin’s Rotunda hospital. She arrived 11 days early and weighed 5lbs 4ozs.
The new parents opted for an unusual choice for their baby, they chose to call her Frankie, RSVP Live reports.
“Rachel came up with the name Frankie.
“I don’t know where she got it from, but the closest thing we can think of is we’re telling people she named her after the pope,” George told the Sunday World.
George, who plays Mondo O’Connell on Fair City, had a big rush to make to the hospital in time. In the end, he was right on schedule to see Frankie coming into the world.
“I legged it back in and got in just in time.
“I was over the moon and on the way home I put on Sister Sledge’s ‘Frankie’ on the car stereo and sang along.
“I can tell people that this whole pregnancy thing is the best thing you’ve ever done, you’ll never know love like it until actually happens and it’s a really incredibly experience,” he continued.
Fans will be disappointed to hear that the dishy soap star will be taking a break from acting for the next two months.
George is getting a well-deserved seven week paternity leave. No doubt there will be serious drama when he arrives back on screen during the summer.
