Dublin woman arrested in latest invoice redirect fraud sting

A woman arrested in the Dublin has become the 16th person caught by gardai in connection with invoice redirect fraud taking place in Ireland.

The arrest of the 29-year-old woman was made by the Garda National Economic Crime Bureau (GNECB) earlier today.

She is currently being held at Kevin Street garda station under Operation SKEIN.

Operation SKEIN targets international BEC/Invoice re-direct fraud being committed form Ireland and the laundering of the cash through Irish accounts.

A garda spokesman said: “Garda√≠ attached to the Garda National Economic Crime Bureau (GNECB) have arrested a woman, aged 29, in the Dublin area today, 7th April 2021.

“The woman was arrested in relation to the ongoing investigation under Operation SKEIN and she is currently detained at Kevin Street Garda station under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act, 2007.

“This is the 16th person who has been arrested as part of this investigation.

“Operation SKEIN is an investigation into international BEC/Invoice re-direct fraud being committed form Ireland and the laundering of the proceeds through accounts here.”
