A BBC presenter has called out 2FM Presenter Eoghan McDermott for copying a segment from his show.
Greg James, who presents on BBC Radio 1, was informed by a listener that the Dublin DJ’s ‘Going home song’ segment sounded very similar to a bit he used to do called ‘Impossible Kareoke.
In the piece, McDermott gets listeners to sing along to songs with no words and make up lyrics as they go along.
The BBC DJ was informed by one of his listeners that the piece is very similar to one he used to do on his show called ‘Impossible Kareoke’ which challenges people to do the same.
On air, James read out a listeners e-mail which said: “Hi Greg, RTE 2FM, a radio station in Dublin, have a thing called ‘the going home song’ and you have to listen to it because it’s awful”
James then played a clip from McDermott’s show and reacted saying: “If you’re going to steal an idea, at least steal a good one.
“I mean the ‘going home song’ is the worst thing of all the radio features.
“What’s lower than the pits? Nothing. The ‘going home song’ is done.”
“It took someone else to do it to make me realise how awful it is. So thank you to RTE 2FM for showing me the way.”
James also said he gave up doing the bit as he thought it was a terrible idea.
