The woman who made Conor McGregor’s 30th birthday cake has revealed she had no idea she was one of the first people to find out about Dee Devlin’s pregnancy.
Tanya Ross, of Novel-T cakes, made the brilliant birthday cake for The Notorious’ birthday last week.
Based in Moate, Co Westmeath, the baker was asked by the couple’s agent if she would be able to carve out the family onto the cake.
Tanya told Dublin Live she was put in contact with Dee who revealed her big news and asked to put it on the cake.
She said: “First her agent contacted me and then I was put in contact with Dee herself.
“She said she was pregnant and texted me ‘if you could put a bump on it that would be gas’.
“I had no idea that I had the big scoop at the time.
“It was a big surprise that they actually chose to use my cake as a way of telling people the big news.”
Tanya, the 2017 global cake challenge winner who has previously had cakes featured on The Late Late Show, said it was a very enjoyable cake to make.
She added: “They are so well known that it was a challenge because if it didn’t look like them everyone would see, but I love that side of things.
“Conor as well has so many tattoos that everyone knows so well and that was the hardest part but I really enjoyed it.”
In the end Tanya was delighted with how it went, however she never got to meet the couple face to face.
She added: “In the end I had a wedding on the same day as the birthday so their security came and picked it up.
“I must say they were a pleasure to work with, their agent and Dee herself were lovely and sent me pictures and everything of it afterwards.”
Tanya said “she could only hope” they would ask her to make a cake again but will be getting back to her more usual business for the time being.
She said: “I’ll still be doing custom cakes for birthdays and weddings and other events.
“I had done a few big names before but they are definitely the biggest.
“I previously did a life-sized santa cake for The Late Late Show.”
