Gardai stormed a north Dublin area this morning to arrest a fourth person in connection with a shooting in the capital.

The man in his 40s was arrested in Swords over the gun attack on a man outside a Blanchardstown Lidl on June 1 2019.

The victim, also in his 40s, was treated for injuries at the scene after being sprayed with bullets in the stomach in the Blakestown Way shooting nearly two years ago.

Images obtained by Dublin Live showed emergency services working hard to attend to the man after the brazen daylight shooting.

The busy Lidl was filled with customers when the victim was seriously injured after being blasted several times shortly after 5pm.

A burnt out car was found in the Swords area a short time later which Gardai believe to be connected to the shooting.

The arrested man is currently being quizzed at Blanchardstown Garda Station making this the fourth arrest as part of the ongoing investigation.

In December 2020, one woman and two men all in their 30s were arrested but later released while a file was prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

A Garda spokesman told Dublin Live: “Gardaí in Blanchardstown have arrested a man, aged in his 40s, in connection with a shooting incident that occurred on 1st June 2019 in Blakestown Way, Blanchardstown.
