He may have made his name in gritty Dublin drama Love/Hate but Robert Sheehan says he prefers Cork to our glorious city.

The actor made the claim during a St Patrick’s Day Q&A shared on social media by Netflix UK & Ireland yesterday.

The Portlaoise native is currently appearing in the streaming giant’s superhero series The Umbrella Academy.

Sheehan tackled some oft-debated Irish issues in the clip – plumping for Guinness over Murphy’s stout and King crisps over Tayto.

But the real controversy came when it came to the choice between Dublin and Cork with the Misfits man sensationally choosing the Rebel County.

He joked: “I’m gonna elicit a few screeches now from home. I think Cork.

“Cork, that’s right. Screw you Dublin. Cork, that’s the real epicentre of Irishness down there, not ye Dubs inside the wall or whatever.”

Laughing, he added: “I don’t know what I’m talking about.”

The star did say he preferred Leinster over Munster when it comes to rugby and shared a hilarious story from when he met Brian O’Driscoll in Dublin.

He said: “One time actually I was at this posh do in Dublin and Brian O’Driscoll actually hit me a jostle and sent me about 15 paces across the floor.”
